CONCERT REVIEWS
It’s not very frequent that you get to see Lust for Youth in Copenhagen, it’s even more rare when you get to see them for free. Standing in a long line outside of Natbar, a venue doubling as a club and movie theater close to city center last saturday night I found myself about to experience both. Once the security decided it was ok to let the us into the venue, we were slowly ushered down a large flight of stairs into what was mostly a vacant room … Not sure that the attempt at hyping an empty club worked, but once the music started and the crowd settled everything was ok and highly enjoyable.
It was close quarters, warm and very difficult to move, but we were treated to a good set. The music was good fun, and the crowd was (as with most LFY shows) very easy-going. I couldn’t help but wonder during the set why a well-known band would want to play a free show? I was fortunate enough to catch up with lead singer Hannes Norrvide to inquire on the topic later in the week. He explained that because the band is going through a shift in personel ( in Soho Rezanejad, out Loke Rahbeck ) that they thought it would be a good idea to do a free show as a warmup before leaving on tour to the states.
Happy they have their priorities straight! Either way, if we can’t get used to them giving us a free ride, then we can get used to more good music and all the good songs we have come to love. I can’t think of a song from them I don’t like, so its just as hard to imagine not enjoying a live show with them. Good luck on tour! see you when you get back
